Nokia announces multi-platform "Heroes" project

A partnership between Nokia and Heroes creator Tim Kring to develop the hit TV series across multiple platforms is revealed at MIPTV today.

Niklas Savander, Nokia’s executive vice-president, services — in Cannes to collect the Pioneer Prize from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – said the project, code-named TEVA, was still in its early stages. “We will work on creative new content to go across different media,” he said. The storyline would be “developed in a much deeper way” to allow consumer involvement.

Breaking news: AFP seals video partnership with Getty Images

Press agency AFP (Agence France Presse) and Getty Images have sealed a worldwide video partnership which will allow both agencies to market their video content in English, it was announced at MIPTV today.

Getty Images captures all the iconic moments from the world of stage and screen, including the major film premieres and festivals such as the Oscars, the Grammies, the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards. The deal will allow AFP to complement with entertainment material its already well-stocked service on current affairs, politics, the environment, lifestyle and fashion.

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has invested in high quality drama programming this MIPTV, with the announcement of joint-venture deals with producers from the US, Australia and the UK.

The US partnerships, brokered by FME’s David Ellender (photo) and Jeff Tahler, include producer relationships with Winkler Films, Mike Tollin and Landscape Entertainment.

China’s increasing sophistication in international co-production was underscored at a Focus On China conference yesterday, providing delegates with useful tips on how to work with the country's TV professionals.

Brian Leith, executive producer, BBC Natural History Unit, told delegates the series Wild China “could never have been made without co- production access and the help of CCTV.”
