DOMINIQUE LEGUERN - MIDEM DIRECTOR -
Turning an early passion for music into a full time career, Dominique Leguern has played an important part in many key events and developments within the French phonographic industry.

1975: she joined major record company EMI as a press officer, promoting with success music heavyweights including Pink Floyd.

When respected French record man and executive, Philippe Constantin, quit EMI to launch Clouseau Music Publishing in Paris, Leguern did likewise. Here, for 10 years, she was to share in Constantin's exceptional enthusiasm and foresight, and especially for a sound that is now known as "world music".

1980: Clouseau Music Publishing opened its doors to the fledgling Virgin France – subsidiary Richard Bronson’s UK independent label, Virgin Records.

Working with president Patrick Zelnick, right from the Virgin France debut, Dominique Leguern made a significant contribution to the company for the next 11 years. Virgin France not only imposed a new image and new approach upon the French music industry but also assured the success of both its local and international artists, among which: Peter Gabriel, Lenny Kravitz, Les Rita Mitsouko, Julien Clerc, Renaud, Alain Souchon, Etienne Daho, Mano Negra.

Successively promotion manager, marketing manager and eventually Virgin Records France General Manager, Leguern, in her executive role, initiated unique and groundbreaking cross-artistic collaborations between musicians and fashion /photographer /film /video directors such as Philippe Gautier, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Stephen Frears or Pierre & Gilles.

Dominique Leguern's interest and understanding of both music and visuals lead her to produce TV programmes such as the series, "Ne Tirez pas sur le Rocker" ("Don't Shoot the Rocker"), for '80s TV pioneer music programme "Les Enfants du Rock". Later, during four years, she worked as music programme producer at French TV channel M6, in its music and entertainment department.

1998: she was named MIDEM Artistic Director.

2000: Dominique Leguern was appointed Director of MIDEM.

2006: During the 40th edition of MIDEM she received the French culturel award of ‘Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ (‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’), by French Minister of Culture Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres.
The French cultural award is given in recognition of outstanding achievements in the arts.
